Red Velvet Protein Shake

How about a beautiful, nutritious, tasty treat this Christmas season? This recipe is perfect for this time of the year. We all are very active with winding our Christmas shopping up and in need  of some healthy energy to keep us going. I know I need more energy this time of the year. We homeschool our 2 teenagers so we like to wind our first semester up. Plus, my son has his birthday in December. Yes, I am a very active mom.

I discovered this recipe and will be making it when my Chocolate Pure Protein Arrives very soon.

Ingredients:

  • 5 quartered strawberries
  • ½ cup cottage fat-free cottage cheese
  • 1 tablespoon beet juice
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 scoop chocolate Pure Protein Complete
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon Blue Agave Natural Sweetener or raw honey
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 2 drops Young Living Orange essential oil

Directions: Combine the ingredients in a blender and process to a smooth consistency.

New Seasons

Life brings many new seasons when you have children. My children are teenagers now. My daughter is 15 1/2 and my son is almost 14. The hormones are raging in these two and I am keeping calm and oiling on literally. I bet many of you who are reading this can relate to what I am saying.

In the last few months I have been using Peace and Calming 2 often in the diffuser along with a citrus oil. The combination of these two encourages calming and positive thoughts. This includes for me too. I do not leave myself out of the loop when I am using the oils with my kids.

We all as moms have days where the stitches in our day just begin to unravel as the minutes tick by. I want to make sure I am being the mom that God wants me to be. Not the mom in the photo. That is a very scary image. Prayer is a big part of my life also. Especially on the seam ripper days. Can you see yourself unraveling on those stressful days? We all have them if we have kids or not. The workplace can be very intense.

Why I Love Fall!

I grew up in a small city called Camarillo California. Well, it used to be. Now a little over 30 years later it is not so small. As a kid and to this day Fall is my very favorite time season of the year.

I loved cracking my window open just a tiny bit, when we had rains. Everything smelled so amazing. The next morning the sun would be shining and the weather warmer. When the days grew closer to Thanksgiving, I would help my mom pull our favorite recipes out, get the shopping done and prepare our home to have family and guests over for this very special day.

This may sound crazy, I can smell fall in the air. I really can! Now as an adult with children I still get that excited feeling deep inside of me to prepare for Fall. We have a few tubs of decorations we pull out and decorate the house with. This year, my sweet hubby brought home a super cute Mr. Turkey. I try to create an atmosphere within my family of more relaxation. Get our thoughts together of what we want to do OR not do for the upcoming holidays.

During the last 2 1/2 years, I break out my Fall diffusing scents. Here is one I use every year.

Fall Leaves Recipe

Your Young Living Diffuser

6 Drops Orange essential oil*

2 Drop Patchouli essential Oil*

1 Drop Ginger Essential Oils*

Roasted Butternut Squash Soup

Oh my tasty goodness!! This recipe would be a perfect addition to your Thanksgiving table this holiday season and any day during the cold weather months.Healthy, tasty and just plain yummy.

Roasted Butternut Squash Soup

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 6 cups butternut squash, peeled and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 carrots, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 apples, diced
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup vegetable broth
  • 1 cup light coconut milk
  • 1 drop Black Pepper Vitality™ essential oil
  • 1 drop Cinnamon Bark Vitality™ essential oil
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • Additional salt to taste
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Toss squash in olive oil and salt and bake on a cookie sheet for 30–35 minutes.
  3. While squash is cooking, heat olive oil in a large sauté pan.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Add carrots and 3 tablespoons water or vegetable broth to pan.
  6. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
  7. Add onion and apples.
  8. Cook 15–20 minutes or until all veggies/fruit are soft.
  9. Add to blender and blend until well combined.
  10. 10 Transfer to a large pot.
  11. Stir in vegetable broth and coconut milk, reserving 2 tablespoons of the milk.
  12. Stir in Cinnamon Bark Vitality, Black Pepper Vitality, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  13. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  14. Stir thoroughly.
  15. Reheat gently, serve in bowls, and garnish with reserved coconut milk and green onions.
  16. Best paired with a cozy blanket and your favorite book.

The man side of oils

My wife can attest I am as manly as they get. My daily regimen starts with Ningxa red, lemon, lavender, Peppermint, Thieves, PowerGize, and Sulfurzyme. I drink 2 ounces of NingXia Red first.
